Here at Fabio Scalia Salon we are committed to our partnership with local artists. We love having the opportunity to connect artists with members of the community and we are privileged to have a revolving display of amazing art adorning our walls.
Recently, and just in time for Valentine’s Day, we have re-partnered with Michael Mut- local artist and founder of the Love Yourself Project. The Love Yourself Project is presenting a collection of origami hearts from their core public program, 10,000 Hearts Campaign, that began in 2010. Each mixed media hand made heart contains a personal inscription of self-love, from New Yorkers who were asked “What do you love about yourself?” In this collection at Fabio Scalia Salon, Mut donated several of his own personal origami hearts to be for sale to help support the project.
In the back part of the salon are hand painted Hearts also by Michael Mut and local artist Shelley Flanders. All Hearts are for sale and 100% of the profit will go to the Love Yourself Project to support their programs.
We are very inspired by the message of self-love, and we think all of you will appreciate this lovely exhibit. Stay tuned to learn the date of an upcoming workshop where you can learn to make your own origami heart with a message that is personal to you.
Also check out the Love Yourself Project’s exhibit of 5,000 hearts, honoring the program’s 5th anniversary, on display at BAM Fisher (321 Ashland Place, Brooklyn, NY). The exhibit is taking place between February 24th – March 8th. For more information visit: loveyourselfproject.org.
