Jennifer Aniston by Alexei Hay for Elle Magazine

It used to be that when you reached a certain age you were destined for your mother’s haircut. But is there such thing as an age appropriate haircut? In this week’s blog post, Fabio Scalia explains if the relation between the length of your hair and your age in number should matter.
“I’m not a believer that women should shorten their hair to correspond with the number of birthdays they’ve celebrated. Your age shouldn’t be associated with the length of your hair. It’s more about your look and how you carry it. Sure, when you see a 50+ woman with hair down to her waist, all you see is probably very long hair. But it would also be very long on a young teenage girl.

Instead of thinking whether your haircut is age appropriate or not, you should instead think if it’s look appropriate. Does your haircut go well with your facial features? With your personal style? With your career? There’s where I’d put my focus. A haircut is, however, a way to play with trends and a great style can make you feel up to date and current. As your hair ages, the texture, color and quality may change and those factors should be taken into consideration when cutting and coloring your hair. You can wear a beautiful dress, but if you feel uncomfortable with it, you will look ridiculous. Same goes with hair. That’s why my final suggestion is to consult with your stylist to come up with a style that will make you look and feel like the best version of yourself!
