Protect your hair from the sun

Protect your hair from the sun this summer

Gorgeous hair all summer? Yes, please!

We’re welcoming the warmer season with open arms. But let’s be honest; Our hair couldn’t be less excited about the arrival of warmer temperatures. Even though our hair doesn’t get visually sunburned like our skin, it can still be harmed by the sun, saltwater, and the wind. The result? Dry and damaged hair.

Here are few tips to maintain your healthy locks during the summer season.

Hats on!

Investing in a hat doesn’t only give you a great reason for going shopping, it also does your hair a huge favor. Hats can protect your hair from all of the summer’s harsh conditions.  Remember that summertime is the perfect season to play with accessories and new hairstyles. Save yourself some breakage and invest in a hat to protect your hair.

Use UV-protection

Most people know that using UV-protection is crucial for the skin, but fewer people know it’s just as important when it comes to hair.  UVA and UVB rays don’t only cause damage to the hair, but also oxidize it, meaning your amazing color could be gone with the wind if you don’t defend it.

Don’t forget to prep your hair with UV-protectant spray (especially if you’re going for a swim!) to decrease the damage from the sun.

Wear your hair up

A ponytail or braid is not only a great way to vary your hairstyle, but can actually save your hair from unnecessary damage. When protecting your hair from the sun, there is a simple rule of thumb: The less amount of hair you expose to the sun, the less that your hair will take damage from it.

Lower the Heat

Want beautiful hair? Of course, you do! However, before your hair can be beautiful, it has to be healthy, so try to avoid the heat as much as possible. Too much heat in the summertime can leave your hair dry and dehydrated. The summertime is ideal for air-drying your hair to reveal its natural texture. Stay away from hot styling tools for gorgeous and frizz-free hair all summer long.
