You visit the hair salon for a haircut, but just weeks after your appointment you notice that your ends don’t look good – they are split in two again. Most likely this happened because the scissors your hairdresser used were of lower quality and not well maintained. As a result, your ends were broken instead of properly cut. As one of the best salons in New York City, we personalize sessions that focus on the hair’s integrity and long-term growth. So how can you know if your service is cutting-edge? Don’t worry – we have you covered!
Fabio, why are scissors important for a great haircut?
– Scissors are important because they allow me, as a hairdresser, to give my clients a haircut with precision. They have to be extremely sharp to achieve the results that we want. My passion for the craftsmanship is what drives me daily and my goal is to provide you with a service that leaves you loving the hair you were born with.

Is it true that you don’t use clippers for men’s cut?
– I really try not to unless it’s a skin fade style. With scissors, I can control the technique in a way that a clipper can’t.
Do scissors affect the health of hair?
– Yes, absolutely. If the hair splits sooner than usual, your hairdresser has probably used the wrong pair of scissors. If you cut your hair with cheap or poorly maintained scissors, you don’t cut the hair – you break the hair. Personally, they are my most important tools and I wouldn’t allow anybody to cut with my scissors. If someone does, I can feel it. It’s comparable to when someone drives your car and moves your seat – it’s not the same.

Where do your scissors come from?
– I only use Japanese scissors. They are made from the same metal and technique as a samurai sword. In other words, they’re pretty sharp.
