Anybody can be a hairdresser but he is a real hair specialist. Fabio specializes in every single area. He can cover almost everything from the trichology to morphology and he tries to see the psychology and the behavior of the customers in front of him as well as their facial features. Then he analyzes everything and covers every single base to offer the best service possible to his clients. Fabio is definitely a visionary who has followed his dreams. Today he has two salons in New York. Fabio also cares about the health and safety of his clients during times such as these. He makes sure that clients have a protocol when they come in. Fabio's future dream His plan for the future is to grow the Fabio Scalia brand in the most important cities in the world where he can be and become a pioneer and inspiration for young hairdressers who want to pursue this career and make it a treasure. Fabio also wants to be able to give a wonderful opportunity to those, who for one reason or another, perhaps do not believe in themselves or do not believe that they can have a nice and lucrative professional future by doing hair. He hopes to be an inspiration to all. Read the full interview of our famous "hairapist" here.
Now, more than ever, millions are working at home and learning how to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down their business. As well as for safety purposes, many people are conducting online meetings utilizing Zoom - and it has been quite the change! This past year has taught us how to work and live life in a completely virtual world. So, what exactly does all of this have to do with beauty and the way you look? Everything! Despite the fact that you aren’t in your office, you should still be striving to look your absolute best during your Zoom video calls - everyone can see you! So, how exactly do you master the Zoom video call? There are many factors that take place when it comes to looking your best, lighting, facial framing, and so much more. At Fabio Scalia Salons we take your beauty very seriously and our #1 priority is making sure you look your best all while being in a comfortable and clean environment. Contact us today for more information about our beauty packages. Let’s learn a little bit more about how to absolutely rock your Zoom video calls from now on! Lighting Really Is Everything When It Comes To Zoom Video Calls Whether it’s natural lighting or lighting produced from something like a ring light, it’s absolutely necessary to use lighting to your advantage during your Zoom video call. We suggest using a ring light - they are super cheap and can be found either online or in stores. They provide excellent professional lighting for a fraction of the cost, and with the right makeup and hair style, a ring light will quite literally make you look like you're glowing and your eyes will be brighter. Natural lighting is also great if you have an open space that natural light can flow through, just be sure to recognize how much light you're pulling in - you don’t want the natural light to drown you out. Lighting is actually where most people fail when it comes to Zoom video calls. Most people have what’s called a “shady face,” where most of their face is blocked out by the natural shade within your home. If you don’t have a ring light, grab your nearest lamp and set it up next to your computer - directly by your face. Sidelight and backlight are a no-go, as it will create a negative contrast. As for direct sunlight, face your window - don’t have the window behind you - this will create a silhouette that will leave you looking like a shadow. Keep Your Background Clean During Your Zoom Video Call Though this may seem like a no-brainer, a cluttered and messy background during your Zoom video call will really irritate some people, and in addition, it will distract you too. Make sure you declutter your background and sit somewhere that looks professional enough and mess-free. Keep things plain and simple - you want people looking at your face rather than a bunch of background “noise.” Keep Things At Eye Level Do you really want people looking up your nostrils? Make sure that you are at eye level with your webcam and that it isn’t tilted up during your Zoom video call. In fact, the camera under the face is absolutely one of the most unflattering looks you can possibly have on your Zoom video call. Look at your camera directly, straight ahead. And if this doesn’t quite work out for you, stack some books under your laptop to ensure that you are maintaining eye level contact with your peers. Remember To Simply Be Yourself On Zoom The most beautiful look you can possibly adorn is just to simply be yourself. With the proper lighting and angles, you will look great! But, if you have a good attitude, you will glow. Remember that these are your colleagues and your bosses - they want to know your true attitude and they want to see you smiling and happy for the company that you’re a part of! No matter how beautiful or handsome you look, a sour attitude will absolutely not help you when it comes to looking your best and nailing those regular zoom video calls. With today's endless product options and techniques to choose from, it can be somewhat perplexing as to why it’s important to invest money in hair health. In order to save money in the long run and maintain beautiful, healthy hair for years to come, it’s key to invest in both the right stylist and the right products. At Fabio Scalia, we utilize proven techniques that will help bring your hair back to all its glory. Your hair is complex Your hair is an important part of your overall image. Understanding the complex components of your hair is something an expert stylist can help you with. Everyone requires different products and styling techniques to maintain optimal health and appearance. No two individuals may be able to perform the same exact hair care routine. Drugstore brands or products with various harmful ingredients may not only be stripping the hair of vital nutrients; they can also cause long term damage by weakening the overall structure of the follicle. This causes hair growth to slow down, as well as dull hair and split ends to show up in its place. Especially during months where we experience colder temperatures. Extreme temperatures weaken the hair structure and lead to a dry, itchy scalp. It’s fundamental to use high-quality products that prevent breakage and keep your hair moisturized. Using the right products Simply using the same shampoo or conditioner as a friend or family member can actually be causing long term damage to your hair. According to the Journal for Investigative Dermatology, “Loss of luster, frizz, split ends, and other hair problems are particularly prevalent among people who repeatedly alter the natural style of their hair or among people with hair that is intrinsically weak” (Sinclair, 2007). Products like Kérastase offer a myriad of products that restore and protect your hair right down to the follicle. We offer products that are ideal for both renewing the look of your hair, as well as rebuilding its structure. Importantly, science notes that using certain hair products is fundamental to improving hair health. Investing in the right tools In order to understand why spending a little extra cash from the start will help you save lots in the long run, it’s important to know what your hair is comprised of. Hair is made up of a protein called Keratin, also found in our nails and skin, according to L’Oreal Paris. The actual structure of the hair consists of a variety of complex structures, from the hair follicle to the blub, as well as the hair shaft, where your cells reproduce to create more hair (see this link for more info). According to Design Essentials, various hair tools and chemical processes can damage the cuticle layer of the hair. That’s why it’s crucial to invest in both the right stylist and the best products that are ideal for your hair type. Not all products are made with the best ingredients. Your diet, stress level, and various other factors also play a major role in hair growth and appearance. Additionally, taking a daily supplement, such as Nutrafol, sold at Fabio Scalia Salon, can restore hair growth and maintain hair wellness. "Haircare can be complicated, but it doesn’t have to be! Utilizing the right stylist, products and supplements will keep your hair healthy and its appearance voluminous and shiny. It’s time to get real. We put our hair through a lot: color, sun, heat styling… the list can go on and on. We might be guilty of prematurely thinning our hair without even knowing it. At Fabio Scalia Salons, we focus on the hair’s integrity and long-term growth and we want your hair to live up to its full potential. Therefore, we’ve broken down 4 easy steps to follow for thick, healthy, breathtaking hair. TAKE SUPPLEMENTS It's not just genetics that have it out for your hair. Stress, diet and environmental toxins are all factors proven to compromise the health of your hair. Caring for your strands from the inside out is just as important as what products you’re using. At Fabio Scalia Salons, we offer our clients Nutrafol, a 100% drug-free supplement to prevent hair thinning. It’s perfect for those who find it hard to cover all vitamins needed for optimal nutrition in their daily diet. CUT DOWN ON TENSION HEAT STYLING Want beautiful hair? Of course, you do! However, before your hair can be beautiful, it has to be healthy, so try to only use hot tools occasionally. You’ll thank yourself later! Not giving your hair a break from heat can speed up the thinning process and will leave your strands fine and flat in the long run. Also, hairstyles that are too tight will pull your hair at the roots and eventually cause breakage. INVEST IN A SCALP TREATMENT Give your hair some extra TLC, and treat yourself to a scalp treatment every now and then. At our Soho and Brooklyn Heights locations, we offer our clients top treatments from brands such as Oribe, Milbon and Phyto. These treatments penetrate the strands deeply, enhance your color and leave you with not only gorgeous, but also healthy hair. HAVE A HEALTHY AND BALANCED DIET In previous blog posts, we’ve talked of the importance of having a healthy and balanced diet for your hair. Make sure to fill up your kitchen with these nutrients to grow your healthiest hair ever.
