A trend currently being noticed is that blondes are covering their summer highlights. They are yearning for darker roots in the cold fall and winter weather. One model changed from blonde balayage back to darker roots. Many women are simply seeking a change that will accommodate the emotional feeling that sometimes accompany the passing of summer. Darker hair can accentuate your eyes, and may also spark a sense of new pleasure as you embark upon a new season. A gradual, subtle change in color can be addressed Be aware that a sudden, drastic change may not be what you have in mind. Initially, a subtle difference in color would be your best choice, until the desired application is achieved. The colorists at Fabio Scalia Salons in New York specialize in providing the color that is tailored to your liking and will guide you in that direction. So, scheduling a consultation for changing hair to darker roots for colder weather is a vital step that you might want to take. Darker hair seems to be in demand for colder weather Many colorists have observed that their clients are turning away from summer highlights, and changing their hair to darker roots for the colder weather. One reason might be that by the end of the summer season your hair may be bleached out and no longer compliment your complexion. Instead of radiating light (like when on a beach or walking in a park), lighter strands of hair seem to consume light, whereas dark hair tends to bring out luster, glow, and volume in the fall and winter seasons. Is your hair turning gray? You can help with the transition in numerous subtle ways. It can be an exciting adventure to experiment with many procedures to see what is best suited to your personality and appearance. Just imagine the freedom that is derived from knowing that you may never have to dye your hair again to be attractive! There is a medley of choices that's all the rage which can easily blend in with your natural hair color. We asked our colorists for their best advice and this is what they suggested: “The changeover to gray hair color could be a tough challenge, especially if your hair is long. If a client has dark hair, adding lowlights would be a good option to consider for an easier transition. You would add your base color into the gray hair, so to break the line of demarcation between regrowth and colored hair. A client who is naturally light could stop doing a base color and just do highlights to transition. The process of becoming gray is individual and cannot be the same for all. Therefore, I highly recommend all clients to come in for a consultation. As hair turns gray when we get older, the texture also changes. Embracing not only your grays, but also the new texture, will require looking for a new hairstyle and changing your choice of products”. – Lucio Galano, Color Director, Soho Here are just a few of the most trendy ideas to get you started: Highlights is a process that gradually makes the transition easy so that the changes will not stand out like a “sore thumb.” Mixed Ash Gray Highlights add many hues, like deep brown lowlights, silver, and ash gray. Such a combination is stunning. Lowlights will gently help you ease into the transition. Gray Brown Layered Cut. See how effortlessly the hues blend in to smoothly make the transition and emerge with an attractive, dramatic combination. Gray Blonde Hair. Blending light golden blonde with ash gray hues is one of the most artful techniques that transforms your hair into a style worth admiring. Chunky Silver Highlights is as alluring as it sounds. You will turn heads with this extraordinary explosion of highlights and shadow roots. You may just want to keep your gray hair You can help with the transition by indulging in the many options available that will keep you looking amazing. Choose a slightly darker shade to blend in with your natural hair color. Embrace highlights. You may also simply decide to keep your beautiful gray hair! Is your hair turning gray?   Single process hair color is a procedure that is accomplished in one step. Only one color is applied. The gloss/glaze procedure which is done after the single process, seals in the color. The brilliance achieved from a single process and a gloss/glaze is guaranteed to be superior. It is intended to arrest the attention of your audience, and surpasses all other procedures. This captures the ultimate shine you never had but always longed for! You must first confirm a candid consultation with the professionals at Fabio Scalia Salons prior to any hair related requests, desires, or must-haves! The difference between a single process color and a gloss/glaze will be explained in detail so you can be assured of satisfaction. A single process color service During the process, your colorist applies one color that is the base shade. This is done for these reasons: ⦁ Lightening your hair ⦁ Darkening your hair (includes covering gray) ⦁ Changing the tone of your hair Examples of colors that can be applied with a single process color: a. Dirty Blonde b. Golden Brown c. Dark Auburn d. Dark Brown e. Black   Proven to be safer than traditional permanent color Our semi-permanent hair single process color treatment enhances the beauty of your hair, and is known to be safer than permanent color. The color lasts for several weeks longer. A Gloss/Glaze Service Embrace this gloss/glaze treatment to give your hair a shiny and vibrant appearance. It can be a clear glaze or a semi-permanent color. The process is easy, and covers the hair with a glaze that is applied all the way to the ends of the strands and left on between five to 20 minutes. This application prevents breakage of split ends, and the color lasts longer, approximately four to six weeks. Care for your hair following a single process color or gloss/glaze During your consultation your colorist will be sure to advise you concerning all the necessary steps to achieve the ultimate care after the process. Your colorists at Fabio Scalia Salons listed below, possess the know-how for application of either a single process color or gloss/glaze service. Jennifer Aniston by Alexei Hay for Elle Magazine It used to be that when you reached a certain age you were destined for your mother's haircut. But is there such thing as an age appropriate haircut? In this week’s blog post, Fabio Scalia explains if the relation between the length of your hair and your age in number should matter. “I’m not a believer that women should shorten their hair to correspond with the number of birthdays they’ve celebrated. Your age shouldn’t be associated with the length of your hair. It’s more about your look and how you carry it. Sure, when you see a 50+ woman with hair down to her waist, all you see is probably very long hair. But it would also be very long on a young teenage girl. Instead of thinking whether your haircut is age appropriate or not, you should instead think if it’s look appropriate. Does your haircut go well with your facial features? With your personal style? With your career? There’s where I’d put my focus. A haircut is, however, a way to play with trends and a great style can make you feel up to date and current. As your hair ages, the texture, color and quality may change and those factors should be taken into consideration when cutting and coloring your hair. You can wear a beautiful dress, but if you feel uncomfortable with it, you will look ridiculous. Same goes with hair. That’s why my final suggestion is to consult with your stylist to come up with a style that will make you look and feel like the best version of yourself! Is your haircut appropriate for your look?
